Hindu Worship Society
The Hindu Worship Society temple is the oldest Hindu temple in Houston. This temple strives to meet the needs of all the sects of Hindu religion. It is a social, cultural, and religious center of the Hindu community. This temple in Houston is a mainstream Hindu temple dedicated to serving the needs of the Hindu community in Houston. The aim in establishing this temple was to provide a place for the Hindu community in Houston to pray, to congregate and to get together as a community to discuss common problems and issues. This Hindu temple in Houston also aims to foster understanding between the Hindus of greater Houston and their fellow Americans of other faiths. It is open for worship every Sunday from 11.00 AM to 4 PM. During this period, there is the programme of religious discourse, Bhajans, Aarati, and Prasadam in the form of feast. Each Sunday from 12 noon to 1 PM, there is "Shakha" for children and young adults. Bring your children to this "Shakha" where they will learn our religion and culture through playing. The Temple also organizes special programs like picnic, celebration of the following festivals: like Diwali, Holi, Janamashtami, and Shivaratri.
